The Ivy Hotel, Birkenhead
« on: Thursday 29 January 09 13:14 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where I may be able to get a photograph or provide any information about The Ivy Hotel ,Ivy Street, Birkenhead? This street ran down to Monk's Ferry.  I believe the area was demolished in the 1960, although I am not sure about this.
I would also like to obtain any internal or external pictures of the Derby Arms pub in Nelson place, Rock Ferry. Preferably between 1918 and 1940.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I don't have any photo of the Ivy Hotel -- but I'm interested in it too, since it was the 1891 census address of William Creggan (b. 1840 Ireland, d. Birkenhead 1898, musician turned publican), and his family. Presumably he owned or ran it then. He married Sarah Catherine Hurley in 1873 and had nine children.  My husband's grandfather was his eldest son David John Creeggan.  Are you by any chance also related to this family?  Sarah Bellwood
