ok i will try and explain the best i can.
my husbands grandmother married 4  first times and i have been trying to find her first husband
john bedworth, now on my father in laws marriage certificate(1947)he is down has deceased, because i dont know when he was born i have been going backwards from 1947 but cannot find this persons death any where.

im beginning to think he is not a real person lol.
any suggestions would be greatley appreciated
thankyou

The fact that someone is down on a marriage certificate as being dead doesn't necessarily make them dead - it might just mean that they couple didn't want that person on the certificate (maybe a family feud ?).  Also, when you said "i have been going backwards from 1947", how exactly have you been doing this ?   Searching manually can be quite a task unless you're pretty sure you know the district where the person died.

RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

just rereading and seeing that you have 1947 so the mariages i found are pretty unlikely
and John Bedworth she might not have married maybe just said they were married for convience

John Bedworth is her first husband the second is Thomas Sargent.  Is she likely to be using the surname Bedworth when she married Thos. Sargent rather than Smith?

oops silly me,  :-[

but just a thought if you know the marriage to the 4th person then ordering this certificate it should list all Marys pervious names late being widowed from and formerly her maiden name
a divorced woman should also be described as such

Hi lostatsea,

It is hard indeed  :-\

Have you any idea at all which part of the country they are likely to be in, and did Doris have a middle name, or even and initial would help?
