I have the birth certificate now of Margaret Devitt, born 18th August 1855 5 Mill Street, Hulme, Lancaster.
Father was Patrick Devitt occ Bricklayers labourer
Mother was Ann  (Rourke)

I can see a marriage

O'ROURKE  Ann     Manchester  8d 605


and can see Patrick in the 1851 census.  He is 25 born Ireland and a Bricklayer's labourer.  He is lodging in Chorley.

No luck so far in 1861. Will take a further look now I have more information on Patrick.

Was there any suggestion on later censuses that Margaret was deaf and dumb?

Struggling to find any of the family in 1861 but there is a girl recorded as M D in a school for the deaf.  There is also a 4 year old MD in the workhouse but she seems a bit young.
