Hi,
This is 21 Balcombe Street; and as you can see it was not always called this.

The historical pubs site cam be useful for spotting address / road renaming / renumbering although I am not infallible in having added everything there is to know.

Thanks Kevan. I saw that pub, just down the road from 29, so that would make me think 29 in 1908 is still 29 now.

Many thanks,

Mark

In the 1910 London Directory on Historical Directories the listing for Balcombe street, shows the odd numbers on the east side. Dorset square is between 15 & 19 & Upper Park Place between 43 & 49. The occupant of No 29 is not listed. 21 was the Portsman Arms.

I find this information the the directories very useful to determine where streets were and the numbers within them.

Happy Hunting

Hi Dave, and thanks for that - sounds like a good resource. All those facts fit the current location so I'm even more confident. I believe the house was split into rooms and there were several families renting different parts of it. By 1910 I think my family had moved on, and they probably weren't there long.

Regards,

Mark

11 houses in the road were labeled as apartments including 25 & 31.
