Burial place for Isaac Summers
« on: Sunday 25 January 09 20:24 GMT (UK) »
My GG grandfather, Isaac Summers died on 8/5/1909. His address at the time was 20 Hallewell Road, Edgbaston. Can anyone tell me what local cemetery he is likely to be buried in or provide a contact for an organization I can contact to find this info ?

Here's a useful site for B'ham graveyards:
http://www.bham.de/brum.html
Most Churchyards were closed to new interments by this time because of overcrowding.
He was probably buried at Witton Cemetary.

Hi Jim

I have contacted Witten Cemetary, who did a search but did not find Isaac. According to his death certificate he died at his daughter's house in Solihull. I suppose it is possible he was buried in a cemetary there. Do you know of any ?
thanks

The 3 Solihull cemeteries opened after 1909 so the burial is more than likely in the Parish of his daughter.Solihull is much smaller than B'ham and in 1909 still quite rural. If his daughter lived close to Solihull the Parish church will be St.Alphege's.

thanks Jim

Isaac's daughter lived in a place called Coppice Close, Alderbrook Road. Do you know anything about the area at that time ?

I know Alderbrook Rd.I can almost see it from here, very posh and the Parish is St.Alphege's.Coppice Close isn't there today unless it was renamed.I'll see if I can find any history.
