Even More Revelations from the 1911 Census

Has anyone found any revelations about their own ancestors on the 1911 census.

I found out about my great aunt, who married a man who was at least 15 years her junior (probably more like 20).  They both lied about their ages - he made out he was older, and she made out she was younger.  The poor lad died when he was 25.  She must have been some woman !

I have a relation who was a Political Agent who was sadly Unemployed!

You can't use the comma in the surname field in the 1911 census anymore.... which is a real shame...It was fun looking for things but also a very useful way of finding other people in the household.  Maybe they felt they were giving too much away for free... 


The only way now is to use the "begins with option" and do 26 searches starting with a, b,c etc.... Takes a while but you would get there in the end

I'm sure they said somewhere that searching without a surname would eventually be enabled.

Welll it had to happen.  Why would you pay for a transcript when you could get the household for zilch.   Pity.

Surely they can't have teams of people looking out for these loopholes    I wonder who spilled the beans ??
