I've just found the Barbirolli family, including one Giovanni, later to be better known as John Barbirolli, the legendary conductor.

21 year old Sarah Ann Carpenter was born in the Stone Age

31 others were Lady Of The (something else), what could it be? I've tried the obvious one ;)

12, including one man  ;D were Lady of the House.

Here's one for Scrimnet..... 132 people said they were "superior" to the head of the house and the vast majority of them were women ;D ;D

Actually...proving how useful this thread is to teach us how best to navigate the 1911 Census....  it's quite useful if you are looking for ancestors who were nuns.

13 put relationship to head of house "mother superior" and 26 were"sister superior" (ie not in the occupation box)...not sure what the others were but presumably something professional.  (They were not all in institutions)

Now - back to the fun stuff....seeing as we are now residing in "The Lighter Side"
