St Francis Home for Working Boys - Albany Street St Pancras 1911
« on: Sunday 25 January 09 10:35 GMT (UK) »
I believe a relative of mine was in this working boys' home in 1911.

Does anyone have any information about it?

I have checked various "institution" web sites to see if it appears in them but I can't see it anywhere!

I wonder if it was an auxillary home for the very large St Francis boys' home in Bedfordshire.

In The Times I find some reference to Christ Church and Christ Church Schools at Albany Street, St. Pancras. Could it be linked to the church?

One 1912 reference gives it as St. Francis Home, 39, Albany Street.

In 1910 (http://www.historicaldirectories.org/), it is given as St. Francis' Home for Working Boys, Sister Amy in charge, 37 & 39, Albany Street, NW.  The same in 1914 and 1915, but not in 1917 or in the 1908 directory.

Yes - that must be the one. The address is exact! I originally found it in the history directories site but I would very interested to see anything you have found it the Times. Do you have anymore information?

Many thanks
