I do get into the Irish BMD's via this link

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

But I am registered with Family Search maybe this is a necessity.

I managed to get a list of people I was looking for, but once I tried to view the document it froze the computer every time I could see part of the page but not anything worth noting.

It seems to jam part way across the two pages.

I may be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere on the website that no images were availaable yet?

Last night I managed to find the birth of my father inlaw- in 1911 in Ennis.
Today he ain't there  ???

This is a pilot site...lets hope once it's up and running for real it becomes a little more user friendly!

Lastly does anyone know if the references quoted on each entry would be the ones you use if you order a cert by post(not yet online is it?)
Just incase I do find anyone I want...far too common surnames I think?

Carol,
for ordering certs - it's the two short numbers you want, and the quarter

Volume numbers are 1-5 when the year is divided into quarters, 1-20 when it's a full year (up to 1877, I think)

the page numbers go from1 to about 1000?

My problems are two!
It is very slow, and freezes frequently on the images - the only answer is to go off and make a cuppa, or whatever (I drank a LOT of cuppas today!) - I'm sure it'll improve later.

Also, if i choose MARRIAGE I get nothing!! So I just let it rip using ALL EVENTS and scroll down picking out the marriages (or residences, as they call them) ... anyone else find this?

Haven't tried searching for any marriages yet but when I put in just a name and asked for births only it came up with the same births and deaths I got when asking for all records.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

i was looking for a marriage, i had found the other partner and knew the date and place. if i tried putting the info in it came up no results.i tried putting nothing but the surname and place and date it gave me 188 pages. i then tried all the records with surname and  date from 1913 to 1913. it still gave me 188 pages but the one i wanted was the first one.
it seems that just like the other family searches the more you put in the harder it is ::)

perth :) :)

now all i have to do is work out how to order the cert

Under PPS I've just stuck in my page and volume number  ??? 4 and 117
and under date I've written June 1/4 of 1923 and specified only if dad is XXX

I've also ticked for a cheaper 6 euro photocopy as this is my hubby's aunt (I hope!)

Good luck Perth,we'll have to compare notes. ;)

Of course I've now got to post the damn thing as I don't have access to a Fax machine.
