Thank you Cando for all your assistance.

The dates i have that are possitive are Allen Blackmores date of birth  now which i adjusted to 1835.  Apart from that all are just researched etc.

quote
There is a submitted record [I always treat any family trees or submitted records online with a degree of caution] on family search for the birth of an Allen SMYTH with parents George and Ann BLACKMORE ..

Is there any way i can look at this record.  Just to see other names match etc.?

Thank you Trish. Im planning on a trip to the Launceston Library in the next couple of weeks which will hopefully be a bit more information than what is online ;D

i just am having real trouble connecting her at all :-\

Search

I searched using his name, birth year, Region  British Isles, Country England

This is the transcribed info from the record in case you have trouble finding it.

SMYTH Allen
Birth     1835      Marwood, Devon, England
Father    George Smyth

There is also one entry on ancestry.com on a private tree but only his birth is recorded and nothing else ie no wife etc.

I certainly agree with Trish .... a visit to the Tasmanian Archives or use their research service.

Cheers
Cando

thanks Cando. And that would be him. His birthdate is 1835 not 36 as i stated as i found a shipping record of his with his birth year on it.

And his place of birth is confusing for me.

alot of his family were born in Barnstaple/ Marwood.
And he was Torrington

As he named his house after where he came from...

So sorry if i get confused with names.

And a search at the records i will do..

Thank you  ;D

Minnie don't allow yourself to be confused by other peoples' research.  This is one of the many reasons I treat submitted info with caution.  Some of the records I have seen verge on genealogical fantasy.

You have obviously done quite a lot of research yourself and living in Tasmania is a bonus if you can get to the archives or email them.

Just keep to what you have researched and validated.

Good luck and let us know how you get along with the archives.  The family sounds interesting.  I hope your other requests on rootschat help you with your family.

Cheers

Minnie

Are you aware of any of Allen Blackmore's siblings emigrating to Australia?

Thanks Cando.  Im doing alot of families.  Branching off.

i am a smyth(e) and have a fair bit of info. but i like to validate it to make sure....

And ive seen some real errors like you say with dates and names etc.  So i cross check and double reference etc just to be on the safe side..

and i will be making that trip to the Archives.  I like paper work lol to show and confirm. ;D

Its just all the little fidly bits of info now basically i get frustrated on :-[ :)

AS for emigrating yes.  A Charles Blackmore Smyth his brother..
I am not sure of dates etc though on when they did come out

And i think an Elinor his sister came out aswell....

thanks Floozy.  Hilda is my Grandmother..

have all those in my data base now ;D
allen is there in an unmarked grave.
His son (also called Allen Blackmore) is actually in A victorian Cemetery.
And Ann Smythe is in Bridport Cemetery aswell.  but also unmarked. (ann is the sons wife).

I have also found alot of others through cemeteries.

Well it almost seems Capt  parents are??? George and Ann
he also had a sister called Elenor

If that is correct???

Can only find 1851 census  wonder why I cant find them in 1841  unless their name was that badly spelt??
