« on: Friday 23 January 09 19:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi i have been looking for a death "listing" for a Richard Yewdell with no luck !
Birth Sept 1873  Sunderland (father William, mother Ann)
Married  Sarah Boyle Sept 1897 again in Sunderland.
Sarah,s death occurs in march 1922 aged 48yrs Newcastle.
I have spoken to an elderly relative who seems to think he returned to Sunderland to live .
I have checked freebmd plus the Sunderland bmd site, can anyone help please.

d-lass,

You failing to find his death registration on FreeBMD site Sunderland RO site does not mean much....1) The deaths on the Sunderland do not START until 1985
b) FreeBMD site only contains Sunderland Reg District deaths up to 1930.

You could peruse the GRO Death Index ( also sometimes referred to as St Catherine House Index) from 1930 onwards, until you find the registration.

Big libraries ( including Sunderland) have the indexes available for searching.

Some web sites have the indexes on line, but ususally for a fee.

And on the positive side, you won't have long lists of surnames to peruse, with Yewdell/Yewdle been an uncommon surname.

I believe Richard Yewdell moved down to Bristol. He re-married Apr-June 1930 but died in 1931(Apr Jun).He was 57.

Thanks Newcastlelass , i also found the same info , but i also noticed there is a family of  like sounding surname ,who hail from the Bristol area (not of our family ,as far as i know ) .I think the only way to solve this puzzle is to send for the death cert.
Trouble is i was told that Richard visited a family member (in the North East )on a weekly basis . Once again thanks for your help.
