Sizer family:Sutton in Holderness, Hull
« on: Friday 23 January 09 19:26 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have a connection with the Sizer family? Richard Sizer and his wife Eleanor nee Hague moved to Sutton in Holderness between 1801 and 1804. Their children include Ann, John, Mary, William, Isabella, Sarah, Thomas and Richard. I am the ggg grandaughter of John b 1801 in Beverley. I believe that Richard snr may have come originally from Adel near Leeds.

Hi Lizzie

It's a long shot I know, but my Great Great Grandfather was named William Sizer who's Wife was Betsy Thompson.  I believe William had a brother called Richard and they were both Forge Men in the Sculcoates area of Hull in the mid-late 19th century.  I have no other information on this side of the tree, but would love to know more.  If you feel that your tree and mine are connected in anyway, I'd love to hear fom you.  all the best

Hi
Many thanks for your reply. It looks quite likely that our two families may be connected in some way, though it may be difficult to prove until we have more information! I have quite a lot of stuff about my line that moved down to London, but much less about the Sizers who remained in the Hull area. The data I do have is second and third-hand and I can't vouch for all of it being accurate, however I'm more than happy to pass on what I do have.

It may be more appropriate to put this into a PM as it really only relates to our particular families, but I don't think I can send you one until you have posted at least 3 times on Rootschat. Perhaps you could reply to my current posting - if possible, giving me any birth/marriage/death dates you may have for your gg grandfather, William. This might help me narrow down my search amongst all the data I've got. (There seem to be several Williams and Richards to choose from!)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Lizzie
