Help in identifying WW1 uniform
« on: Thursday 22 January 09 20:00 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I was wondering if anyone could help identify the following uniform / regiment which I believe is from WW1.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Well, at first glance I would say that is from around 1880s and he's French!

I'll do some digging!
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

I don't, although I know that my great grandfather spent some time in France (not too sure when), although he wasn't born until around 1900. He possibly brought the picture back then.

Hi
I've also found this picture. It looks to me as if this might be the same man (although I could be wrong) on the front left.

That moustache is a work of art!!

I'd agree he looks very French.

It's the number on the collar which makes him more than a bit French...

I think it is a "Carte De Visite" He may have made friends with a local!!

The second pic looks like a cookhouse one!
