Seems that Maesteg and Bridgend area is definately ok - seen some dubious transcriptions though! Still missing my gt gt grandfather - appears he was not home at the time, and too common a name (and insufficient info) to track him down - the brickwall is here to stay methinks!

Hobby - Byford

I've just found some of my lot on Carmarthenshire but it's quite pricey to look at the transcript isn't it?

£6.95 for 60 credits
£24.95 for 280 credits
£49.95 for 600 credits.

When you need 30 to look at one transcript that's a bit much!  :o

Grindley; Llandilofawr, Ohio, Louisiana, Washington DC.
Rees(e); Pennsylvania.
Lewis, Llandilofawr.

10 for a transcript, 30 for a copy of the original page.

I've just got a load of transcripts at the moment, with one or two originals where I want to see specific info (i.e where exactly in Ireland they were born) as I don;t really trust the transcripts.

one of my transcripts has the ages out by 10 years on all members of the family - parents and children. Not looked at the original, but know the trancript ages to be wrong due to prev census returns and various certificates

Sorry I meant page when I said transcript - blame the shock of seeing the price.  ;D

I wouldn't want the transcript, I want to see the actual pages for myself, so I shall have to think about it.  :(

I know what you mean, and I can't really justify the amount of money I need to spend to get all my 1911 relatives looked up (especially the random Evans!).

I'll make do with transcripts until it comes down in price or appears on Ancestry (at which point I'll abuse the free library access  ;D)

There are some tips on the board somewhere to get the most out of searching on the 1911, I've used some, really helpful, one is to use other members of the household to pin down some, I usually put just the surname and one of the names that are unlikely to have been mistranscribed as the other member and then up they all pop!
