Hi,
I've had a few problems with my computer + power cuts, so sorry for the delay in replying!
Joseph I believe was Yossel, I went on on JewishGen the link you sent me didn't work so I went to Jewishgen research + typed in Krakofsky/krakowski found a few in the cemetries, but didnet recognize anyone. Joseph went to visit Poland (about 20 years ago approx.) and told his son Brian that all his family had been killed during the holocaust! So I'm not sure who I'm looking for other than Barnet Krakofsky + Fanny Barnet even with these names the Barnet strikes me as odd.
Joe changed his name to Bennett in 1945 he used to live in Hammersmith then moved to Hastings where he had an hotel, I think they lived in Leyton for awhile too.
Thanks
Ladylil

My Grandfather was told that all his family had died in the holocaust but it wasnt until after he married in England the 1950's that he found out some were still alive.

I am sure you can find records of the holocaust vicitims

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-11-19-holocaust-papers_x.htm

try contacting Bad Arolsen

they take some time to reply but they will reply.
there is a link in the article above (on the left)

and you could also try this place
http://www.holocaustcenter.org/index.php?Itemid=10023&id=74&option=com_content&task=view

Barnet doesnt seem that strange i think though it was anglicised and this could prove a little probmatic, you would need to find the name before it was anglicised then your search should fly.

if you get the naturalistaion docs tha Deb found it should give you more clues to where they came from and also maybe parents names etc but i amnot sure what information is held in them as my grandfather wasnt naturalised as it was expensive.

do you already know Yossel and Fanny parentage then?
if you tell us everything you know it might help us trace them for you.

with regards to geography i use google maps, my granfather came from lvov (i was orginally told Kiev) in the ukraine but this is very near the polish border and with broder changes etc it is now thought that his parents were in fact polish , also with the surname is much more polish than ukrainian.

I haven't any data for Fanny + Barnett's parents but here are their children =Jacob (Jack) Krakofsky changed his name to Kendall. Born approx. 1908
Worked as a research chemist for Ilford films invented the infra red.
Samual b. 1909 approx Warsaw Poland.
Harry b. 1906 approx. He had 2 greyhounds, one that ran fast and one that didn't.
Hope this may be of use.
