I believe Joseph had a brother Harry so possibly the same......
Russia, Germany or Poland I find it very confusing I've browsed many internet sites, then realise when the immigration officials at the time noted so many from Warsaw, it was easier to mark Warsaw due to the communication difficulty apparently.

added - of course the speeling you have is the englih verison - you would need to get it translated into the Polish spelling before searching the polish documents or it will draw a blank.

I"ll try and  translate my details but I'm worried that I won't understand the replies even with google translator, the translation isn't always exact. Do you know any other ways of simplyfying this?

Sorry, didn't explain myself well, I thought this could be Jacob, and wondered if it was significant that he stops appearing in the phone book the same year as Joseph changed his name?
