My great grandfather apparently worked for the Dunbar McCMaster & Co around 1890's.  He immigrated to Greenwich NY, Dunbarton Mill in 1896 along with his wife and brother.  Are there any on-line sites with information on these employees? What I found so far stated that about the employees moved to Greenwich NY to work at this mill.

There is a 2 volume book out by Ruddock on the mill in NY.  One of the books   gives lots of information on the employees and traces them back to Ireland.  It is excellent for genealogy.  The other is a picture book, I think.  I have seen about 5 pages total of the first book and highly recommend it on the basis of them.. 

Some of the families moved from the area.  Do you have surnames, since I have information from a nearby mill where some employees went.

Yes, I have ordered them Linen threads and Broom Twines.  Yes, They Were Arthur McCann and his wife Mary (Rocks) McCann, and Arthur's brother Thomas.

This has been a year since your post but I just ran across it is a search.  If Arthur was your great-grandfather then we are cousins of sort.  His younger brother Thomas was my grandfather.  I'm Thomas McCann III.  I have a bit of information on their journey and Tommy's life.  I've also picked up a little in Ireland over the years.  I was born in Tenn. and lived in Florida most of my life.  Please get in touch.

Yes, My great Grandfather was Arthur McCann.  I will enjoy communicating.  Your are the third person I have encountered who is researching the McCann Clan.  My  Dad said He had an uncle Tom who lived in Florida. It fun to meet others and compare information.

I'm new on this forum and apparently don't have rights to PM to you.  Anyway, if Arthur was your great-grandfather then one of his kids must have been your grandparent.  As far as I can tell, my grandfather Thomas (who came with Arthur as a boy some years before the rest of the family) was the only one who didn't go to Greenwich and work in the mill.  He ended up with the railroad in Schenectady.  My 88-year old uncle William is still there and remembers Arthur and probably your grandparent as well.  I've also heard from a John Martin in Maine who's mother was Sarah the oldest daughter of William, the son of the patriarch who came in '06 with the rest of the dozen kids. I can read your PM's but can't figure out how to respond other than to the thread.

Yes, My grandfather was William Jay McCann from Arthur's first marrage to Mary Rocks.  He was the oldest.  I too been in contact with Martin's except I communicate with his wife Carolyn.  I will send you a PMS with my e-mail address it might be easier.  I look for to comparing notes.
