Eastbury is in the parish of Lambourn  - so within Hungerford district. Ann might be the Ann Spanswick whose death is registered in 1849 in Hungerford district.

Ok that is interesting.
Any way we can find out the date of birth for Ann Spanswick? That would confirm it was the same Ann.
Kind regards

My first thought is that the d/c will show her age, but that will mean a  £7 outlay.  ;)

Thanks for that - the relationship is to distant to justify that expense, especially with the credit crunch just now.

This is the last sibling I was hoping to trace.  Even though I live in Kent, one day I may take a drive to Reading and look up everything, but not for a long time yet.

Thanks for your help on this.

Kind regards

There's a widower Roger Spanswick in 1851:

Class: HO107; Piece: 1833; Folio: 319; Page: 2

He is aged 34 employed as a servant in Wanborough and has a 7 year old Albert Spanswick with him, born in Eastbury, Berkshire.

I don't know if this is of any help or even relevant, but I have a copy of the 1901 Census for Great Shefford which lists the two occupants of this house - Wlliam Spanswick, shoemaker aged 61, and his sister Adelaide, house helper aged 69. Both single and born in West Shefford,  the former name of this village which is 4 miles from Lambourn.

Roy.

I'm afraid not. All I have is the census return mentioned.

Roy.
