Disappearing family
« on: Sunday 18 January 09 23:15 GMT (UK) »
I have a birth certificate dated 1st July 1849 for Thomas Dodds, giving his father as Thomas, a cigar maker, and his mother Ruth, formerly Smith of 21 Fleet Lane, London. I have Thomas jnr's death certificate dated 22nd July 1849 with the informant Amelia walker, at the same address.

I have been unable to find any other infromation on either the Free BMD or census returns relating to Thomas Snr or his wife Ruth. Can anyone please offer help or suggestions? My surname interest is Dodds. Many thanks.

Thanks Meliora. Thats obviously my Amelia but where the other two have got to is a mystery. I thought they would at least be in the 1851 census. The IGI and Familysearch havent revealed any likely candidates. More sleuth work needed.

Edwin seems to belong to another Dodds family living at ref. 262/43 on the 1861 census.

Checking my files I already have info on Eliza and Edwin, twins born to William Dodds and Rachel Keeler. This is another large Dodds family that I am trying to link my Dodds line to. My Doddses lived in Old Seacoal lane, near Fleet Lane circ 1815 and were next found round the corner at Cloth Fair in 1841. So Its getting close.
