Grgr grandmother restoration please

Is this a scan of an original?
It's posted as greyscale so very difficult to restore.

Not a fan of image effects and filters --- this is the best I can do and still retain something of the original image...

Looks like a scan of a photocopy of a photograph  :-\  Unfortunately not a lot of info to work with...however, I can confirm that it was taken in the 1860s  :)
