Lewes, Dec 3.
... One evening a few days since, as Mr John Dancey, a farmer, near Crawley, in this county, was on his return home from Ryegate market, he was stopped by a single "footpad" (sootpad?), who demanded his money, and robbed him of about ten pounds in cash, which Mr Dancey delivered to him without the least resistance or hesitation. he had some Bank notes about him, the the villain fortunately did not demand his pocket book which contained them.
the letter-cafe, containing the Bank notes stolen out of the hose of Mr Tickbon[?], at Hertimonceux, as mentioned in a former paper, we are informed, was on Monday last found in a field not far from the house, with all the bills in it. except the on of "40!." which have been since returned to the owner. It is thought the cafe had not lain many hours before it was taken up, as it was perfectly clean and dry.
