Maybe we should sell our research on this thread to the popular press...
Just to be a bit boring in the middle of all this amazing data about how this country saw itself in 1911 - have now just seen the original image of that Census entry for my POLLARD family, in which my great-aunt's occupation was given as "Nothing" (The catalyst for this whole subsequent rib-tickler, in fact).
I see now that SHE was the one who filled in the details on the form, not her grandmother.  So she was definitely being tongue in cheek, considering she was looking after at least her grandmother and two of her younger siblings...
