Emma Phillips marriage look up please?
« on: Thursday 15 January 09 20:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Can anyone help me find the marriage between Emma/Emily Phillips and James Alfred Ward?  I'm fairly sure it would have taken place in the Aston area sometime between 6/4/1911 (Emma is still at home on the 1911 census )and 5/4/1912 (the date their eldest child was born)

Any help on this would be HUGELY appreciated as this family has been eluding us for years

Thanks in advance :)

 :o

That looks quite likely (surely that particular pairing of names wouldn't be that common?)

so ......... gt granny and grandpa may only have married 13 years AFTER the birth of their first child???

Wow ...... no wonder none of them wanted to talk about it lol

Thanks very much Freddie .......... now next question would be (as I am completely clueless when it comes to English records) is there any way I can confirm this is the right couple without ordering the whole certificate?

:D

:) np, thanks Freddie ....... I've passed the info onto my aunt who is going to order the certificate anyway

It didn't occur to any of us to search for a marriage so late after the birth of the first child.  You may have just given us the kick start we needed to finally find something out about this line.

:)

Hi Thisty

You can either ask the local register offices to check for any known details (eg parents' names etc) before you buy certificates, usually a free service if you are going to buy the cert.  List of Register Offices at http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/regoff.html

Or do the same at the GRO -  Here's the link to the online GRO site for certificate ordering:   www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

That should tell you all you need to know.  There is a part of the form where you can ask them to check references including parent's names, spouse names etc.  They say that if you have done your own searching in the GRO indexes and have found more than one reference to the name you are researching, or are unsure which is the entry you require, they offer reference checking online. The charge is £7 for action on the first entry, which includes the cost of the certificate, and £3 for checking each subsequent reference against the information you have provided.  You must give one piece of information that you are sure will appear on the certificate, e.g. the exact date of the event.  A certificate will only be issued if the entry matches the checking point you give them.

Kind regards
Barbara

Hi there, you must be related to me and be a second cousin, these are my grandparents, my Grandfather James Alfred Ward and Grandmother Emily Emma Phillips. I have a family tree I have been researching for a number of years. Please get in touch as I see this was posted a number of years ago.
