You do not say exactly what you are looking for, but it may help you to know that in late summer 1916 Knutsford Prison was cleared of prisoners and handed over to the Brace Committee as Knutsford Work Centre, within the Home Office Scheme for the employment of conscientious objectors to military service. This meant that men sentenced to imprisonment for disobeying orders in the army after forcible enlistment could be released on licence subject to complying with a rigoorous regime in a Work Centre, which involved not wearing prison uniforms, unlocked cells and freedom to go out in the evenings and on Sundays.
The Peace Pledge Union has a database of some 3500 WW1 COs, including a number who were at Knutsford. To find out more visit

This advice is not relevant in the case of anyone definitely known to have been in Knutsford Prison before August 1916, but highly relevant to anyone known, or thought, to have been in Knutsford Prison between August 1916 and April 1919.
