The miss Dowzard in 1914 is her daughter.

Elizabeth Dowzard, known as Lizzie died in 1931.
I therefore am puzzled as to the name of the Miss Dowzard in 1934!
Both Edwards had daughters.

Some sections of Thom's can be a little bit out of date, so it's possible that they did not update the listings correctly for that street....or the property could still have been in her name, pending probate etc...

While Thoms Directory is all we have in some situations this shows the limitations of the Directory as they never had any official status to collect information but merely relied upon the fact that it might suit a named person to have a correct entry.

Edward Dowzard, the one who worked at the port & docks board, had a total of seven daughters in two marriages, from 1887 to 1904.
So I guess it could be one of these.
Dowzard, Hurley, Johnston, Cleland, Sillery, Hanbury, Sparrow, Parker, Hall
