« on: Tuesday 13 January 09 07:50 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have any information on one JAMES MEIN who came over to Australia on the COROMANDEL in 1802(I think it arrived in 1803).  THese Pioneers Settled along the Hawkesbury River an area known then as PORTLAND HEAD now called EBENEZER.

His wife was SUSANNAH MEIN (Formerly SKENE)

Any help appreciated.

If you search the NSW BDM indexes, you'll find some references to Meins, including the deaths of a James and a Susannah.

There's a James Mein, convict, given a conditional pardon in 1814.

Tickets of leave, emancipation, and pardon records, 1810-19

Using that same website link, you'll find a reference to Susannah Mein in the Index to Intestate Estate Case Papers
and also the Index to Early Probate Records.

You can order copies of this information.

And by putting Mein into the search engine at
http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home
and then looking at the results between 1810 and 1819, and 1820 and 1829 you'll find some digitised newspaper articles containing references to James Mein.
