3 Reilly girls from Glenboig married 3 Kelly boys from Westmeath Ire

Catherine (Kate) Reilly was one of 3 sisters who married 3 Kelly brothers in the Glenboig area around 1920.  Her parents were Joseph Reilly (born in Westmeath Ire around 1849, died in Glenboig in 1932) and Margaret Whealan (Wheelighan) born around 1854 in Gartcosh, died in 1928 in Glenboig.

The 3 Kelly boys (Kate married Michael) must have moved from Ballynacargy, Westmeath, after 1901, but before 1920.  Their dad Christopher may have been killed in a barroom brawl around 1903, which may have resulted in the family moving to Scotland.  The mom's name was Anne, who also died by 1920.

Any information about these Kellys or Reillys would be appreciated.

I don't have any information as such, but I had a look on Scotland's People.

A Michael Kelly married a Catherine Reilly in Airdrie in 1920 - that could be your Kate and Michael.

There was 1 other Male Kelly - Female Reilly in Airdrie in 1906. I've not any spare credits to check the name, but if you know them you can try them out.

If you have the names of the other 2 couples I'll see if I can search when/where they got married too if you like?

Thanks very much for responding.  I have the marriage certificate for Michael and Catherine somewhere, and I suspect that you have the right couple.  It was that marriage certificate that tells me that both of Michael's parents were dead when they were married in 1920.

I found the family in the 1901 Irish census in Ballynacargy, Westmeath, Ire in 1901.  There is a gap of information between 1901 and 1920.  I will probably have to look for all the Kellys in the 1911 census there.  If I cant find them, that would imply the move to Scotland had already occurred, and I would have to look for ship travel records between Dublin and Glasgow.

Unfortunately, I dont know the names of the other two pair of twins.

I don't think you'll get much from ship travel records.  They would have just hopped on a ferry.

Good point.  It was all UK at that time, I suppose, so there may not really be any immigration-related records.

Correct- reccords weren't, and still aren't, kept of people traveling between Ireland and the rest of the U.K.
