Kingstanding is where the King "stood" when Hunting in mediaeval times, and was part of Needwood Forest, which extended to  Tutbury, Hanbury, Anslow, Barton under Needwood Yoxall, Marchington Newborough etc.
and was administered from Tutbury Castle.
OS map 245 shows Needwood Forest with Kingstanding near to the B5234 from Burton to Newborough opposite Lancaster Park and the Tatenhill Airfield, near to where the new National Football centre is being built.
