Hi Diana,

The burial is definitely listed as 23rd May 1876, Arthur Cavill, aged 17, St. Leonards Loftus, but the fact that he's not listed in the MIs probably means there's no headstone or that it's illegible, sorry.

From this new topic,
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=352806.msg2308021#msg2308021

we have another Linthorpe cemetery look-up so that's two if we have another look for Jen's Harriet!

Not going very far afield are we?  :D

Sorry about that!! Finger trouble again!

Hannah (Bowes) (Fell) Lawson:

Hi Barbara

Yes I mean her burial.  Some years ago I contacted the parish priest of St Michael who very kindly checked the register for me but found no Fell or Lawson.

I'm at a loss to know what they did with her!

We also visited there ourselves in 1994 but walked around the churchyard - I doubt having her memorial on the Guisborough family stone whether they would go to the expense of another headstone - although I think her daughter and son-in-law were reasonably well off.

I get the impression - but I have no-one to ask - that the Lawson connnection was perhaps frowned upon - a money matter methinks.

Many thanks, I'll try the derwentside site.

Regards

Margaret

Hi Kath, thanks for your pm about Linthorpe Cemetery

Here are the death details for all three, all CLEWS not Clewes

Death Reg March Qu 1940 Middlesbrough 9d 1453
Alice M CLEWS aged 56 (b.abt 1884)

March Qu 1958 Middlesbrough 1b 959
John CLEWS aged 78  (b.abt 1880)

CLEWS, Winifred Maud
August 1987   Leeds
Volume No: 5  Page No: 459  Reg No: 887
Date of Birth:     29 June 1917

Where did you get the grave number?  I know you're local, so can you please phone Mbro cemeteries office to double check for all three, to see if they are all in the same grave, and let us know, there should be a letter as well as the digits 10217 (otherwise we won't know where to look).  It's probably C, but if you'd check it would help.  Cemeteries office 01642817725

Probably a silly question - how do you find out where someone is buried.

My grandfather died (from an accident) 1934 in the Sub-district of Middlesbrough West.  Just out of interest  -  how can I find out where he is buried?

His wife (my Mum's grandmother)  moved down to Hillingdon presumably before his accident - Mum doesn't know - so no idea what happened to him after that.

Hi Viv,

Do you have his death certificate with his address?  If not it's probably listed on http://www.middlesbrough-indexes.co.uk/search.php

If you have his exact date of death you could try phoning Middlesbrough cemeteries office 01642817725

Hi Barbara,

now it gets a bit complicated  ;D

On his death cert. it says:

When and where Died: between the Britannie Steel Works and the North Riding Infirmary

So: therefore no idea where he was living at the time.

Will try the website you have noted.

Thanks,

Viv
