Hi Cloke,

Do you have the years of birth for any of the children of James Lancaster that you mention? Knowing when the children where born might help trace the mother.

Hi Cloke,

Would it be possible to give a little more information? The more information you provide the easier it will be for someone reading to help (and will also give you a better chance of having your query answered).

Could you give the location of the marriage of Edward and Ginny? You say Edward is the only child you know about. Can I ask, how did you come about the names of the other siblings? Also, can you provide the place of birth for Edward?

Also, my name is Kirsty not Krysly  ??? :-\.

Regards, Kirsty  :)

Sorry about that Kirsty.
Most of the information came from my Mother who has pasted away .
Also came across an old will of James . I only know of Edward the others are named on the will .
This Lancaster Family were good Catholic people .  From what I understand most married twice once
St Mary,s Catholic Church then St Leonard's Anglican Church . At Walton le Dale Lancashire . As I believe were Edward and Ginny .
Sorry I do not have a birth place for Edward . All I have  come up with his children were born in the Bamber Bridge , Brownedge , Walton Le Dale Area . Could the family have stayed in that area for many a year .
Cloke ??? ???

Dear Cloke,

your post caught my eye as my parents were married at St Mary's. The church was opened in 1780 and it has its own website - so you could actually see what it looks like:

http://www.stmarysbrownedge.org.uk/index.html

Most Catholics at that time married in a Catholic Church and then in the local Anglican Parish Church so as to make their marriage legal in the eyes of the Government, who didn't recognise the validity of Catholic marriage. That only changed in the middle of the 19th century.

Dear jds 1949
Thank you for the web site . Do you know anywhere you can research
the Marriages at St Mary,s .
I am thinking most of the Lancaster,s I  am researching would have married there .

Dear Cloke,

I suspect that the only two places that will have the registers are the Lancashire Records Office in Bow Lane Preston and the Society of Genealogists' Library in London - where I'm pretty sure I looked at a microfilm copy for some research on my mother's line.
