I note that Gerry has said he has an inscription for a Hallinan in the Old Dalbeth Cemetery, Glasgow. I believe it is Rev William Hallinan, who I think is related to me through the ancestors of my family in Co Limerick. I would like to know how I could obtain a copy of the inscription, or even better, a photograph of the gravestone (if available). peterhannan

Hi Peter,
The entry for Hallinan is indeed for Rev William Hallinan. If you PM me your email address I will send you the photographs I have relating to that entry.

Hello Gerry, I have some ancestors buried in St Peters Dalbeth. Are the MI`s you posted only for the old cemetery and do you know if there  are any for st peters? I have the lair number- is there somewhere I could contact to see if there are stones on these graves? Their names are Archibald and Catherine McCurdy and they were buried 1897 and 1918.Thanks, Roberta

I'm possibly in the wrong room, again. But I have just found my Great Grandmother' in St.Peter's burial book.1925.She paid 2 Pounds to be buried in a communal grave. Is it likely that there may be a memorial stone for all those buried or packed in there.SP,so far, don't have a death cert. :o

Sadly There is no memorial that I'm aware of for the many thousands of paupers etc buried in the common ground of St Peter's or Dalbeth Cemeteries.

Hi Irishseeker,

I too, have many ancestors who are buried in common ground in Dalbeth in Glasgow - quite a common thing, when people just didn't have the money for living, never mind dying!!  Re SP - and your greatgrandmother's death in 1925 - are you sure there isn't a death entry available through SP?  There should be!  Do you want to mention name, - could have a look...

Hi Irishseeker,

I think you may have got the wrong burial record, The Mary Heaney listed in the St Peter's Burial book shows the date of burial as Jan 7th 1925, This matches a death record on SP for a Mary Heaney aged 66 died 5th Jany 1925 however that Mary was the widow of Robert and list her parents as Patrick & Ann Hobin nee Connelly.
