Hello,

I'm trying to trace the graves of the following and hope that you will be able to help:

Peter McCue arrived Scotland early 1930s, no death registration available.
Susannah McCue, his wife, nee Morrison
Patrick McCue died 1886
Roseann McCue nee Hughes died 1913
Joseph McCue died 1948
Philomena MCue nee Bennett died 1917.

I will be travelling to Glagow next month to look for old addresses and had hoped to find graves.  I am so grateful for the work you have carried out.

Hi Sulla,

Welcome to Rootschat, I'm afraid the only McCue who shows on any of the surviving headstones in Old Dalbeth part of the cemetery is of a priest - Rev Constantine McCue, 9 December 1866. Aged 29

Hi Murry,

The only reference to a Fallen or Fallon is as follows -
Sacred to memory of Margaret Carlin, his mother who departed this life 22nd March 1861. Aged 78 years. And of Margaret Farron, his wife who departed this life 9th December 1874. Aged 60 years. The Above James Mullin, died 24th September 1885. Aged 70 years. Margaret Maxwell, died 26th December 1853. Aged 40 years intered in Sighthill Cemetery beloved and deeply regretted.

Hi folks,

Thanks for a wonderful resource so far on this cemetery. My ggg-grandmother Alice Crawford (nee Connelly/Connel) was buried in Old Dalbeth on the 1st March, 1857. Definitely a Catholic, so it looks like she's somewhere under that much and rubble :(

As the thread's been running for a few years, I wondered if there was an update on either my relative (a headstone would be wonderful) or the state of the cemetery in general?

Many thanks in advance
Mark Crawford

Hi Mark,

Welcome to Rootschat. I've had a look through the inscriptions of the surviving stones and there are none containing a reference to Alice.
The cemetery is much nicer now, with all the ground cleared and grass growing again and being cut. At the moment it is still closed to the public, the West wall has been removed and rebuilt as part of the forth coming Commonwealth Games Development, I'm keeping a watchful eye on it as they had to remove quite a few headstones to do this ao we want to make sure they are reinstated properly.

Ah, a pity. I take it turning up with a wire brush and trowel would be frowned upon :)

Her mother Mary Clarke/Connelly I think is also buried there in St Peters, Dalbeth, in 1887. Could this be the same as your

Clark   16

earlier in the thread?
