could anyone suggest a date for this photo
« on: Wednesday 07 January 09 22:21 GMT (UK) »
i'm curious about this photo, i dont know anything about it, it has nothing written on the back of it, it could have originated in northern ireland (although that is speculation).

If anyone could suggest a date based on the clothes and hair styles that would be a good start.

many thanks

Just a  guess,  going by the lady's hair, and her shoes, perhaps the middle 1920's.   :)

I would put it mid 30s + as per mums dress
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

Hi

I would say the 1920s or early 1930s myself as well. Looking at the clothes and the condition of the actual photo.

Shawe 1234. I do hope you find out for sure about the photograph and get the right family connection.   :)

Just for curiosity I went looking on he internet for information re fashions for that period.

My previous opinion was formed from a photograph I have, that I know was taking in 1926. Of course people respond to fashion in different ways, some are on the cutting edge, some area few years behind.  :)

But in case anyone is interested, here  are a couple of  links re hair styles and fashion, that emerged after the first World War.
