David Redhouse Blackmore
« on: Wednesday 07 January 09 05:10 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather. Married Ann Amelia Clark in 1868.  My grandmother was Ruth May Blackmore born 1893 and married Herbert George Clifford. They emigrated to Australia in 1922 with their two daughters Joyce and Gladys.  Daughter Doris was born in 1922 and their only son Thomas Herbert, my dad was born May 10th 1924. Ruth passed away May 16th 1924.
Ruth's brother Arthur James Blackmore or William Allen lived in New South Wales and passed away in 1964.
Anyone have any info on relatives?

Hi Lee433,

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

If you are looking to trace ancestors then a copy of David's marriage certificate should show the name and occupation of the 2 fathers, which you can use to trace the families through the census etc.

Marriages:

David Redhouse Blackmore   DecQ 1868  St. Geo H Sq     1a   512

(Found on http://freebmd.rootsweb.com)

Is this his birth registration (also on FreeBMD)?

David Redhouse Blackmore     JunQ 1844   Plymouth  9  399

Copies can be ordered on line at www.gro.gov.uk and cost £7 (if in the UK).

www.familysearch.org will show you the 1881 census (David, Amelia, and a bunch of children in London).  If you need them I can give you the family in earlier censuses. There seem to have been quite a few older siblings.

Have you looked at Australia Recordsearch? That shows Arthur James Blackmore's WWI records, next of kin listed as mother Amelia Blackmore.

Also someone here looking for the same family: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,30715.0.html

http://jearnshaw.me.uk/tree/18549.htm lists all the censuses, saving me typing them out.  There is a mention of one of the brothers (Robert Charles Blackmore) marriage to a Nellie Mansfield.

Incidentally if you're looking for what happened to her other siblings, I think Amelia Sophia Blackmore married in 1904 to Joseph Clack - there is a daughter shown to them on freebmd in 1912. When the 1911 census comes out you should be able to track forward more easily.

Hi Lee and welcome!

You're welcome to come back to us with further specific enquiries once you've had a look at all the sources mentioned by Jorose and Nanny Jan.

Just a plea - can you let us know what you already know, where you've looked and exactly what you are after?  It saves people duplicating work that has been done before (which sometimes causes them to lose heart and stop helping).

If you are trying to trace the family forward, of course you can't really be specific - but be careful not to mention living people.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
