Advice please on finding information about the Fretwell family of West Yorkshire - specifically John Fretwell (according to LDS) christened 10 February 1744 in Penistone. I've hit a brick wall with my ancestor John Fretwell who married in Barford, Warwickshire in April 1773 but no trace of him in Warwickshire prior to that. He was a weaver, as was his eldest son, Thomas. According to the information re his death and burial in Barford in 1820, he was born in 1744. There seem to be many Fretwells in Yorkshire and Derbyshire but by elimination, I'm left with John of Penistone as being 'most likely'. All suggestions welcomed as my research has to be done long distance from British Columbia, Canada.
