Norfolk Marriage
« on: Tuesday 06 January 09 09:48 GMT (UK) »
Happy New Year!  :D

I am interested in a marriage listed on the IGI which is said to have taken place between John Flower & Hannah Hott on 15th October 1753 in 'Norfolk'. I would like to try & find out whereabouts, so I can read the entry next time I am in Norwich. I've looked through Free REG & Boyd's on 'Origins' but it doesn't seem to be there.

Any suggestions anyone??

Thank you both for your time & ideas. I will have a look on the forum website.

I think my only other hope is that they married by licence, and that I might be able to find the location from a marriage bond in Norwich.

Thanks, Sue

Hi Ben

Thanks for the info. I will see what it turns up although, knowing my luck, it will be the wrong marriage after all this!

Incidentally, don't suppose your Suffolk Fairweathers are anywhere near Peasenhall by any chance?

Hi

I think they did originate in that area. Mine were in Brandeston after 1740ish.

What is your earliest Fairweather ancestor you have traced and where was he/she born?

Someone else has also been researching the Fairweathers and got back several generations.

Hi Ben

Not too far away then.

My earliest is the marriage of Mary Fairweather to William Ludbrook at Peasenhall by Banns on 8th March 1791. They both say they are single and 'of the parish'. The two witnesses were Frederick King and William Brown, the latter being the clerk I think. Their daughter Sarah was my 4xgr.grandmother.

There's no shortage of Ludbrooks in Peasenhall, and I know who William was, but not Mary, hence my enquiry. There seem to be quite a lot of Fairweather clusters in that area, so trying  to pin her down to a particular family could be something of a problem.

There is a burial at Peasenhall for Mary, widow of William Ludbrook, on 10th Oct 1831 aged 69, which would put her date of birth somewhere in the region of 1761/62 which I hope, ultimately, will help, but what a great pity she didn't make it to 79!

Any clues could help! Sue

Hi Sue

I will look into this for you regarding the Fairweathers.

Also I notice that in your signature of names that you have Teago listed. I also have Teago ancestors from Parham, Hacheston and Framlingham.
