Hi hsweeney40. I just read your post from about 3.5 years ago, and hope you are still checking the posts. Which Tipperary library with access to the headstone inscriptions for Kilnarath graveyard is closest to Kilnarath civil parish? I leave for my annual research trip to Ireland on 3 October 2012 and plan to visit the Kilnarath area on 7 and 8 October. After 40 years, I believe I now have the proof that my GLEESON family lived in the townlands of Gurrane and Cappadine in Kilnarath civil parish. They originally were in the RC parish of Newport, but switched to Ballinahinch RC when it was started about 1839. I do not believe their residences changed. My GLEESONs emigrated to Markham, Ontario, Canada about 1849. I believe my John GLEESON, bapt. 4 Apr 1829, son of Michael GLEESON and Norry McKeogh of Cappadine, is a 1st cousin to Mortimer (Murtaugh) GLEESON, bapt. 5 May 1828, son of William GLEESON and Judy CORCORAN of Gurrane. I am hoping that the Kilnarath gravestone inscriptions may help confirm this. Any guidance is appreciated.
