Registration Districts 19th century Victoria
« on: Monday 05 January 09 21:34 GMT (UK) »
I've been given a lot of birth and death information about relatives who emigrated from the UK to Victoria and their children.  I'm struggling with some of the Birth Places which are abbreviated to 3 or 4 letters eg SAND.  Does anyone know of a site where I can find a list of abbreviations and the full name of the town or village?  I believe they're mostly in the Ballarat region - the emigrants from here were coal miners who went to try their hand in the gold mines.
Thanks

SAND >>>>>>Sandhurst

At  the  top of  the Emigrants to Australia Board  you  will see
Australian Resources

click on  that

then  you  will see a  lot of topics/links

click on Victoria resources

and  there you  will see lots more helpfull links  for Victorian resources

in  this  you  will see a thread I  posted  with this link

Thanks very much.  That's just what I needed.  Sorry I didn't think to look in the resources bit first.
