Hi Wendy,
I have dug out the Francis Robert Kane and Elizabeth Revington marriage cert and it makes things more confusing!
On the cert it lists fathers as Francis kane a cashier, deceased and George Revington a Tailor now deceased. Francis Robert is described as a mariner aged 27 which would make his birth year 1863 not 1858. They married at St Michael's catholic church. Elizabeth's address is given as 5 Dee Street West Derby and Francis as 14 Farm or Fann Street, West Derby.
Grandma's birth cert gives Elizabeth as Kane nee Rivington of West Derby and the place of birth as the workhouse, Walton. Francis is desribed as mariner, merchant services.
I found a birth record for a Francis Robert Kane in 1858 which I sent for and just got, his parents were Francis Kane a cooper and journeyman and Mary Ann Kane nee Burlinson. The address given looks like 16, Back Rathbone Street, Liverpool.
I also found out from someone on GenesReunited that Francis Kane and Mary Ann Burlinson married 13th March 1848 at St Michael's both of full age and Francis described as a warehouseman. His father was daniel Kane a soldier and Mary Ann's father was Robert Burlinson a victualler.
I wonder if this is the right Francis Robert Kane or if I need to look for someone born closer to 1863 which would cut the age difference down between him and Elizabeth who was listed as 22 years in 1890 when they married.
Confused of Yorkshire!!!!
