so it looks like there was an elder son Cedric

Cedric and Richard Shackleton, 14 and 13 respectively and both described as students, sailed to London from Port Said in July 1935.  There's no sign of any other Shackleton on the page, but there was lots of other school-aged children on the ship and at least one teacher.

Hello,
Just happen to bump in to this forum looking up the name shackleton.

The son R A is buried in Holland but has fallen in Kessel Germany.
This i know because i lay flowers on his grave every year. Living near Kessel passing his place of dead almost every day, at the bridging site were he died by result of German artillery. The finished bailey bridge has been given his name by his fellow soldiers.

If someone could set me in contact with relatives i would be most gratefull. I'm desperatly searching for a photograph of him, giving the grave a face not only for me but also the visitors of the cementery. A face would make it more impressive and make people more aware. This as it is just a very small cementery almost forgotten on the 4th of may. Our rememberance day of the fallen.

I'm afraid I can't help as my grandfather was completely cut off from the Shackleton side of the family as his father died when he was 2 years old and had no contact at all with the Shackletons and I haven't had any contact either.

I'm searching info about your uncle. I would like to give his grave a face as i visit it every year on our rememberance day. I know the story of the way he was fallen and have pictures of the bridge he was building too. As wel as pic's of his grave if you want.

I'd be very happy to exchange information with you. I don't have a photo that is easily accessible , but I might be able to get one from another family member. He died long before I was born and my mother's photos are in storage,  but the family of his brother (my other Uncle) may have one.
It is very nice to know that his grave is visited.
