Have you tried Scotlands People? If you can find their death certificates you should get their parents names from them.

I have tried the Ewart library in Dumfries to try and view the OPR's for Durrisdeer, but was told they have not yet been transcribed.

The archive office in Dumfries is the next best hope for information  on microfilm.

David Maxwell was the son of David James Maxwell and Helen Maxwell. He was born 1903 1902 in Holywood.

You will be able to get his birth certificate online at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

There is no marriage online for a David Maxwell and Mary McWhirter - likely they could have married after 1933.

hume :)

Edited because I was looking at the registration date!

I'm just transcribing my sister's notes onto my computer -

I have a g g granfather, Joseph Maxwell b abt 1812 in Durisdeer, married Annie Todd & of their 8 children one was named Ann Kellock Maxwell (b 1838).

ScottishAncestry says she possibly has your David's grandfather, David (b 1844), marrying a Jane Kellock.
If you ever find any connections please remember me!!

Hi,

This is what we have on David’s siblings however in the case Mary Ann as she is not a direct ancestor we have very little information. My husband is a descendant of John Maxwell (b 1894). It may be interesting to swap some further information; I will send you a PM.
