Odd-Rode - SIMMS
« on: Tuesday 08 February 05 21:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am seeking a marriage of a William SIMMS to Elizabeth ?
The marriage would have taken place between 1835 and 1840.
Children were born at Middlewich, Thirlwood Locks and Odd-Rode, CHESHIRE

On the 1851 census, Elizabeth SIMMS was listed as born 1816 Harecastle.
William SIMMS was away during the census, a canal boatman, I believe.

Thank you,
Genie13

Hi Genie
           Welcome to roots chat
I have searched for the marriage in all the indexes I know of without finding it, It is a possibility they never married ,can I suggest that a birth certificate of one of the children would give the maiden name of Elizabeth and with that searching her parentage would be easier.

Have you tried this site about Odd Rode,
it has census transcriptions from 1851, 61 & 71.

Thank you Peter for trying to find the marriage of Elizabeth & Wm SIMMS. I will take your suggestion to send for one of the children's birth certificates.

Is there a way of researching James SIMMS b1836 & John SIMMS b 1838 - Astbury, Alsager? They are not on LDS.

Yes, "MOYS", I have seen the ODD-RODE site. I found my family on the 1851 & 1861 census, but Wm was not at home on either of them. I think the site is wonderful; I have enjoyed the photos as well.

Hello Genie
If James and John Simms are not on the LDS then I am afraid its a matter for the records office at Chester.
sorry cant help much more than that,if you want any census info please ask.

forgot to mention that there are some records and a search facility offered by the vicar at Astbury.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for all of your advice and suggestions.
If you could possibly find William SIMMS b abt 1814 and family on the 1841 census, that would be terrific.

others with him might be:
Elizabeth b1816 wife b Cheshire
James b 1836 - Astbury
John b 1838 - Astbury
Sarah b 1840 - Middlewich

Or if you are able to find William anywhere on the 1861, or 1871 or 1881 census, I would be very thankful.

Hi
There are no signs of William and family in Odd Rode 1841, some of the pages are illegible so may have missed them,it is possible the were in Middlewich ? still.
I did notice a James Simms c 1800 and family including a 1 month old Sarah,if this is one of yours do you want the details.

Hi Peter,
Yes, I would like info on James Simms. I believe he may be William's father.  I think he was also a boatman. This would be very helpful and I appreciate your look-up.

Thank You,
Genie
