Hello,

I have my great grandfather's birth certificate. It shows the registration district of Greenwich in the sub-district of St Paul Deptford. His name was Walter Thomas Child, born 16 February 1885 at 280 Lower Road.

His parents were William Robert Child and his mother was Maria Child (nee Shipp). I am looking for information on them and ideally would like to find out their , marriage date and their respective birth and death dates.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Would need assistance from census sleuths to confirm whether this is correct of course.

The marriage reg posted by Kanskae seems to be the correct one- although by census 1871 they had a 7 yr old child - possibly from a previous marriage or poss an illegit child of maria's

I have them on census 1871-1901 -I think it is going to be complicated following this family

William changes p.o.b. from Norfolk to Suffolk back to Norfolk
maria is consistent with Norfolk
They were married in Norfolk
The children seem to go by their middle name on some census -their forename on others!!!

I will post the census details and then look up the birth regs of children - it seems your Walter  Thomas used the name Thomas in 1891

When I have posted the census I will then see if I can find william and Maria pre marriage

Problem is in 1881 there is a child James F age16 b Norfolk - whether this is Frederick from 1871 I do not know???
