Helen Richmond LOGAN
« on: Saturday 03 January 09 16:08 GMT (UK) »
I am looking at my Great Grandmother's passport, and trying to locate relatives. She was born Helen Richmond born in Aberdeen on February 7, 1885 or 86, born to Agnes Richmond (born 1860) Her sister was named  (Maggie)Richmond, born in 1896, she married Peter Wilson.
Helen (Nellie) married Hay Logan, he was born in 1883. They had 4 children Agnes (Nan), Helen (Nellie), Harry, and my Grandmother Margaret. They came to the United States in 1923.
Their last know address was Crown Terrace in Partick.

I also have an old photo of Hay Logan and others in front of a business called VALENTINES ENGINEERING & MOTOR HIRING DEPOT. This photos would have to be between 1900-1920. Any information anyone would have any information, that would be great!!!

Hi Sandcay, :)

Just a bit of info for you ...

Hay Logan married Helen Paton McKinnell Richmond on the 26th of August 1904 at 10 Gladstone Terrace, Old Kilpatrick, Dumbartonshire. She was 18, and the daughter of James Richmond, sewing machine packer and Agnes Richmond m.s. [maiden surname] McKinnell. Hay was 23 and the son of Hay Logan, picture frame maker (deceased) and Morrison Logan m.s. Christie (also deceased) . Their witnesses were Hugh and Margaret Richmond.

Helen's birth shows surprisingly in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire of all places! Right across the country from Aberdeen. She was born Helen Lucas McKinnell Richmond on the 7th February 1886 at 7 Richardland Road, Kilmarnock. Parents names are given as James Richmond, draper traveller and Agnes Lucas Richmond, previously Ramsay and her maiden surname was McKinnell. They married December 14th 1885 at Catrine, which is about 12 miles from Kilmarnock.

I cannot thank you enough, and I cannot express how much your information means to our family and most importantly to my 87 year old Grandmother. With your help, this is the first time ever that she has seen a photo of her Grandfather.

Would it be possible  to  advise me how we can obtain further photos and information.

My Grandmother is the only one still living and she was only a year old when she came to the United States. By the time she was 19, her entire family had passed on, so we do not have much information.

Thank you again. The Logan and Richmond family

Hmm, not sure I understand. ??? I didn't give a photograph, simply information from certificates concerning the Richmond and Logan family.

To obtain more information, you should visit ScotlandsPeople, a pay-per-view website, at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Hello Sandcay in America,

It's a wet, dreich day here in Aberdeen, Scotland, so I was browsing through Roots and came upon the LOGAN name.   My cousin SUSAN DUGUID's mother was MARY TAYLOR LOGAN, and Mary's father was WILLIAM TAYLOR LOGAN, born 13 October, 1876 to HAY LOGAN and his wife, MORRISON CHRISTIE at New Bridge of Don, Old Aberdeen, Scotland.   WILLIAM TAYLOR LOGAN is the brother of HAY LOGAN, born 25 February 1882.   There was another son also named HAY LOGAN, born 11 February 1879, but who died aged 22 months.

I have been helping my cousin Susan with her Family Tree, and we found HAY LOGAN had emigrated to America in April 1923 onboard the Andania, ariving in New York on the 11th, but was bound for SAGINAW in MICHIGAN.   Did they settle there??    I couldn't find his wife and the 4 children's passage to the USA, but will keep looking.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and exchanging information.   You may also have a communication from my cousin.

Kind regards from JENNY in Aberdeen, Scotland
