Does anyone know if the proposed database of St Joseph's burials is complete yet? I contacted the cemetery about 4 years ago when trying to locate a relative who was buried in a pauper's/public inscription grave but, without a date of burial, they could not tell me if he is there. They said that when their database was complete I would be able to search by name. If no-one knows the answer I will contact the cemetary and post their reply on this thread.

hi
my grandparents and two of their spinster daughters are
buried in moston cemetery
i needed to find out about one of the daughters as her name is listed
as last on the headstone but was the first to die
i had to pay for a search to be done to discover
that one of the daughters is in fact buried in a public grave

Hi Chirp

I am not aware of a database, the few times I have been in they get the burial registers out to check.

Suppose once they do have a database, the info will become chargeable  :(

Look forward to the reply from them when you phone.

Ken

It seems that the database is still in preparation and it will be another 12-18 months before it is complete. There will be no CDROM produced but searches will be made  via the website.

Hi Benn

Went to St Josephs yesterday, looked at every headstone in the St Peters section "nothing"

Spoke to one of the grave diggers, and explained the problem to him, he rang the office who rechecked the database.

They only have one Isabella Johnson buried there and she is in that Cowley grave  ???

Benn I have no idea on what direction for you to take now to resolve the mystery ???

Regards
Ken

Hi Ken, Thankyou very much for all your help, It does seem strange that she is in a grave with another family, perhaps there is a connection - but I can't find one yet!
I think probably the best thing to do is next time I get to Manchester, is to pop in again and get the grave report, and I'll just have to make do I suppose. I've got to come over soon anyway to search Manchester General Cemetery, so I can now make a day of it.
Thanks again for all you've done.
Best regards,
Benn.
