St.Josephs R.C cemetery, Moston. Help needed Please.
« on: Friday 02 January 09 11:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi all, firstly a happy new year to everyone, I hope 2009 is a successful year for all.
Now on to my problem, I have a grave reference for St.josephs roman catholic cemetery in Moston, and when I went to visit the plot over christmas, it took an age to find, and when I did, the headstone mentioned a totally different family????!!!!
I have questioned this with the cemetery office, only to be told I must have the wrong plot, I think I was in the right place!!
Does anyone live local to the cemetery, visit it on a regular basis or have any knowledge of the burials there???
The details I have are Isabella Johnson, died aged 89, and is buried in plot St.Peter 536.
I live too far away to keep visiting, and would really appreciate any help anyone can offer.
I look forward to any replies.
All the best,
Benn.

Hi Benn

I will have a wander around the cemetery tomorrow for you.  :)

What is the date of the burial?

Regards
Ken

Hi Benn

Had a wander around today in the snow and found 536 St.Peters, but like you say it has another family in it.

Sorry I could not take it up with the office staff as you have let me know her burial date.

Could she have any connection to that family in 536?

Regards
Ken

Hi Ken, Thanks for your messages, sorry I have only just picked them up!!!! Her date of death was 12 october 1948, isabella Johnson, lived at Copestick street in Ancoates??
I'm not sure on any connection to the family in that grave, I can't remember the family name now on the headstone, I don't suppose you made a note of it???? Very cheeky of me I know!!!
But Many thanks for the trouble you took of looking for it, especially in this weather!!!
I suppose the only thing to do is to take a look at her siblings marriages, or her daughters marriages etc and try to find a match with the family in 536.
Thanks again Ken, and sorry I didnt get back to you earlier.
All the best,
Benn.

Many thanks Ken, Looking back I should have done that whilst I was there, instead of just disregarding the grave as 'the wrong one'.
A major, and possibly very expensive mistake to make in genealogy!!! Lesson learned I think!!! :-)
I hope you're not going out of your way to do this, thanks again.
