no dramas ;)

ok, now I am respectfully dressed, brekky done and housework can wait some.

Burials at Skipton.

Winn, Jonathon, son of Mathew and Elizabeth of Embsay, carpenter, buried on the 16/9/1756

Winn, Martha, daughter of Mathew of Eastby, carpenter, buried 5/8/1751

Winn, Mathew, son of Mathew of Eastby, labourer, buried 11/1/1754

Winn, Susanna, widow of Eastby, buried 11/6/1756

Wynne, Francis of Eastby, pensioner, buried 3/3/1734

Wynne, Agnes, daughter of Francis and Susannah, a labourer of Eastby, buried 12/4/1721

Ok, so with this we know that Mathew was of Eastby and was a carpenter for the birth/burials of children listed from both wives, Mary and Elizabeth.
ie:The baptism of Martha in 1751 on IGI states Mathew and Mary, her burial in 1751 states father is a carpenter.
Also same for Jonathon, baptism on IGI and burial.

I wonder if Mary died during childbirth, that being Martha in 1751.
Wish my baptisms went earlier on cd.

It seems pretty certain that this is the same Mathew who has married twice, but reality it would be important to verify this and we have ruled out his second marriage as providing details for him being a widow, and cannot find death of first wife, Mary.

I will keep looking and see what I can come up with, I have tried so many variations - even Whin.  If you can think of any other variations let me know, but really gave the 'W's a full work out for that timeslot.

I will take up the challenge  8)

Wishful thinking here but could the W in Winn be mistaken for a 'M' or possibly 'N' if the handwriting is hard to read??

Hi again, just about to send message when noted yours,
I will check the N's, see below for other variations I have looked at.

On checking IGI:

Mathew Wynne baptised 13th July 1707, parents were Francis and Susanna, which fits nicely with your Mathew and his first son is named Francis.
But you probably have this ...
Looking for Mary Spencers baptism, found this likely one, baptised 7th March 1708, Skipton  - parents William and Jane.
Fits nice and second son named William and first daughter named Jane, fits in with traditions.

Where am I going you ask  ;D ..... just figuring which parish Mary was from, seems to be Skipton also, and should be buried there.
I can only conclude that either it wasn't written in parish records or the transcriber of my cd has not included.   I have checked it at least 3 times, looking again at variations, even Vinn, Minn etc.
The cd is not searchable, just data to look at one by one, else I would try first name and date and play with that.

Sorry, have not found the one burial that I imagine was the one you wanted out of all of them.
I do hope I have at least given you some extra info to play with.

Regards
Margaret

Hi Margaret

You have been most helpful and kind to give up your time to help me, thankyou

At least you have come to the same conclusion as me based on the facts we have, Mary's burial must have fell thru the cracks so to speak! Oh well we cant have everything we want, we would all give up if genealogy was easy!!

Big thanks again  ;)

No problems, couldn't see any likely variant in the N's, even gave Gwynne a shot  ;D

Do you need some lookups for the Spencers?
Might as well seeing as ya got me here  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Just give me details of what you have, saving me looking on IGI, then I will search at leasure 8)

Hi cezza

I have some records that go a bit further back which may interest you.  Given that the name Winn was rare especially in Eastby I thought you might be interested.

baptism  16 march 1678
Thomas son of Francis Winn of Eastby  (Could be your Francis's brother and father)
bapt    25th july 1680 Ellin dau of Francis Winn of Eastby
burial  14 july 1680 A child of Francis Winn of Eastby, not baptised (??twin of the above)
Apologise if you already have these but if not I hope that you can tie them in.
