McKechnie, South Australia

Wondering if there are any McKechnies out there from my family.
My father, Norman was born in Adelaide in 1925.  His father, also Norman was born in Hawker, in 1900. I have their birth certificates.  My query is about my great grandfather, Malcolm. I know that he was a stationmaster with SA Railways, and I have a photo of his grave, he died, aged 91ish in 1956.  I do not know where he was born.  His father was John, according to his marriage record (which I was able to see at the State library of NSW via a book published by SA family history group).
So, does this family ring any bells for anyone? Malcolm married Persilla (Priscilla) Dellow  and their children were: John Adolph (known as Jack), Donald Victor, Allan, Norman, Christina Margaret.
I'd love to be in touch with anyone from the family, as my Dad would never speak of his family, in fact he became really agro when my Mum spoke about hers!! My Grandad, Norman died when I was 11, so I didn't get a chance to ask any questions.

I  just had a look at  the index and there are nother marriages in SA with  the father being John McKechnie.  I  would hazzard a guess with  the names of  the children  that he was from Scotland.



there was another son  who died young

Might pay to look at Shipping records to see if he may have came from their.

can you  check  the Vic Pioneers to see if Malcolm was born  there  I  did note from  the Vic Deaths 1920-1984 a number of Mckechnie's with father John mother Christina Ralston?

No Malcolm MCKECHNIE birth on Vic Pioneer Index.  I should have posted that I had already checked.  I have also checked the shipping at PROV as many South Aussies landed in Vic before travelling to SA.
