David Chicken, 1891 Census, possibly Hammersmith
« on: Sunday 28 December 08 19:30 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help me?
David Chicken, born 1885 in East Murton/Dalton le Dale, Co Durham, married Mary Robson in 1886.  In the 1901 census he is in Kensington with his wife and 3 children.  The first 2 children, Thomas and Henry are indicated as born in Hammersmith.
I've got an Ancestry subscription but he's not coming up on the 1891 census for some reason.
Is there anyone who can find him in 1891 please?
Thanks

Hi and a warm welcome to Rootschat :)

I think you mean David was born abt 1865, rather than 1885 (otherwise he'd have been a very young bridegroom in 1886!).

He appears in fact to have been born in 1864:

Birth Jun 1864

CHICKEN David
Easington 10a 366

The family is in Kensington Town in 1891: RG12/21/13/19.  Leave the surname out and use this reference in order to sidestep any transcription issues.

Anna :)

Thank you for such quick responses.
Sorry, you're right about his Date of Birth.  I'll try using the reference now.  Many thanks.
