A Californian Pomeroy Family
« on: Monday 22 December 08 13:34 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find a possible marriage.

In 1930 ship Hamburg docking Aug 9 1930 in New York. Passengers include
Edgar  POMEROY working in Oakland San Francisco, emigrated 1889, naturalised  Aug 7th 1929  living  55 Estus Ave San Francisco
with him is  Lottie Pomeroy same home address b 13 Nov 1894 CA
Could this be a second wife, his first wife Martha or Mattie died  in 1916!
She is not his daughter, sister, aunt, sister in law or any other blood relation as far as I can tell
Married after 1916 -

ALSO looking for the possible marriage of his niece, Kathleen McGuire born 1927 so marriage if there was one from around 1945,  same area of SF

and any mention of James Pomeroy Mcguire born 1931 died Mexico 1959

Here's hoping!

Lottie Pomeroy (maiden name Lombardi) WAS the wife of Edgar Pomeroy. They were married sometime before July 13, 1925 because the Petaluma Argus-Courier published on that date has "Mrs. Edgar (Lottie) Pomeroy returned on Sunday to Petaluma from a swift and pleasant automobile trip with her brother, Morgan Lombardi and wife of New York, who are now visiting Mr. Lombardi's father, Ferdinand Lombardi in San Anselmo.

You can see this article for free at the California Digital Newspaper Collection website: https://cdnc.ucr.edu/

There's even an article from 1929 about Edgar Pomeroy and his wife traveling to Europe to visit "his former home England" along with other countries. They planned on being gone a YEAR! That 1930 ship's record is their return!

The Petaluma Argus Courier, 3 July 1976 has a brief biography of Edgar Pomeroy. He founded the Petaluma Spartan Club (a soccer and sports club) and was locally "famous."

There are more articles re: the Pomeroy's and Lombardi's at https://cdnc.ucr.edu/ !!!

Edgar Pomeroy's obituary was published here: Petaluma Argus Courier, 25 November 1955. There's no mention of Lottie....Hmmmmm...
